Modeling a Cup from a Reference Image in Nora3D

A cup is a familiar object with several distinct modeling problems: the outer shape, the hollow interior, and a handle that meets the body in the right places. This Nora3D recording follows those elements from a reference image to a complete visible form.

The workflow starts with the user attaching an image and asking Nora3D to use it as a reference. A brief exchange establishes the direction before the geometry appears in the workspace.

A 48-second edited recording with waiting periods removed and selected modeling steps played at 2–3× speed.

Start with the body

The first stage develops the cup profile and turns it into a three-dimensional body. The opening and inner wall become visible, making it possible to inspect the relationship between the outside silhouette and the space inside.

This is a useful point to pause when reviewing a similar model. A side view explains the proportions; an angled view into the opening reveals details that the silhouette alone cannot show.

Add the handle, then look around it

The recording continues with a curved handle beside the cup. As the handle takes shape and meets the body, the separate modeling steps become one recognizable object. The closing rotation shows the rim, interior, and handle from additional angles.

The value of the sequence is its clarity: the reference, conversation, body, and handle are all visible. The short clip is edited, so its running time should not be read as the total time needed to create the model.

For your own cup concept, start with a clear reference and specify the overall size and preferred handle shape. Once the model appears, inspect the opening and handle connections before moving on to finer design changes.
