Nora3D for CodexOnline Beta

Your next part.
Built with Codex.

Describe it. Build it. Keep editing.
Create CAD from a prompt or drawing, with your Nora3D document right beside the conversation.

Codex desktop app + a Nora3D account. No local CAD server.

A prompt starts the model. Codex creates the body and two halves in Nora3D, refines the exterior, and shows the camera side and unfolded model. A follow-up request, “fold it,” changes the model to a folded configuration. The clip shows an edited workflow, not real-time generation.

01 / Install once

Bring Nora3D into Codex.

Install directly from GitHub for easier updates. Prefer a download? ZIP instructions are below.

  1. Add the marketplace

In the Codex desktop app, open Plugins → Add → Add a marketplace. Use the repository source shown here.

  2. Install the plugin

Choose the Nora3D Beta marketplace, then install Nora3D Online Beta. Adding a marketplace alone does not install its plugins.

  3. Authorize your Nora3D account

Complete the account authorization when prompted. Keep Codex open until Authentication complete appears, then start a new task.

Prefer a ZIP? Download and install manually
  1. Open the GitHub repository ↗. On main, choose Code → Download ZIP.
  2. Extract the entire ZIP to a permanent folder. Keep both .agents and plugins.
  3. In Plugins → Add → Add a marketplace, use the extracted root folder as Source. Leave Git ref and Sparse paths empty. Install Nora3D Online Beta from Nora3D Beta, then complete account authorization.

Select this root folder, not the ZIP or the inner plugins/nora3d folder. ZIP copies need manual updates.

02 / Connect your document

One conversation.
The part beside it.

Work in the same task’s built-in browser, so you and Codex are looking at the same document.

  1. Mention Nora3D

In a new task, type @ and select Nora3D Online Beta. Describe your part, or attach a drawing and explain what you want to build.

  2. Open your part

Ask Codex to open app.nora3d.ai in the built-in browser. Sign in and open or create the intended part document. If it is already open, ask Codex to use that tab.

  3. Connect, then model

Codex checks the current document. If it is disconnected, click MCP under the canvas once. Wait for Codex to confirm the document before modeling begins.

Keep this document tab open while Codex works. “Waiting for your MCP agent” means the connection is still pending. You should not need to copy connection codes or repeatedly open new tabs.

03 / Make your first part

A small part. A clear prompt.

Select @Nora3D Online Beta, then paste a prompt. Include units and the dimensions that matter.

Create

Start with a simple plate

In the current document, create an 80 × 50 × 6 mm plate with a centered 10 mm through-hole. Check the dimensions and save it.
From a drawing

Bring your reference

Model the attached drawing in millimeters. Confirm the dimensions you can read and ask me about any missing dimensions before building.

Attach a clear, dimensioned drawing.

Refine

Keep the conversation going

Change the plate thickness to 8 mm and the center hole to 12 mm. Check the updated model and confirm it is saved.

Use after creating the plate. Review the result before exporting or printing.

How do I update the plugin?

For a GitHub installation, use the marketplace’s Upgrade action in Codex. Check the installed version of Nora3D Online Beta and install the updated plugin if it still shows an older version. Start a new task to load the updated instructions.

For ZIP installations, download and extract the latest ZIP, update your local marketplace source, and reinstall from that source. Keep one Nora3D Online Beta installation enabled. Do not rely on automatic background updates.

The website did not open automatically

Ask Codex to open https://app.nora3d.ai in this task’s built-in browser. If the browser tool reports a timeout, share that error in the same task. Opening a page, signing in and connecting its document are separate steps.

The document is open, but it is not connected

Keep the intended document open in the same task’s built-in browser. Click MCP once if disconnected, then ask Codex to check this document’s connection. “Waiting for your MCP agent” is not a completed connection. If it fails, share the exact error; do not repeatedly open new links or create replacement documents.

I added the marketplace. Where is the plugin?

Select Nora3D Beta and install Nora3D Online Beta. For ZIP setup, choose the root containing both .agents and plugins. Menu labels may vary by Codex version; see the official plugin setup documentation.

The plugin’s tools are missing

Check that Nora3D Online Beta is enabled and its Nora3D account authorization is complete. If Codex offers Authenticate, finish that flow and start a new task.

If the authorization callback says “connection refused,” keep Codex open and start a fresh Authenticate request. Reloading an expired callback will not restart it.

Do I need a CAD server or Python?

No. Nora3D runs its modeling services online. You need Codex with plugin support, a Nora3D account, and internet access. Your Codex account’s usage limits and any Nora3D plan limits still apply.
